Nine Days of Peace
This past week, I was on vacation. But I was on vacation from more than just work. I was also on vacation from the computer. For nine days, I went without.
No turning on the computer.
No checking bank balances.
No downloading photos.
No playing games.
Nothing.
I did give myself a little time every day to check e-mail and Facebook on my smartphone, but I was otherwise unavailable. It was glorious. And it reminded me just how much I hate computers.
I know I need my computer for work, but I don’t like spending all of my days and nights on these things. Being tethered to technology isn’t a way to live. I might be in the minority on this one, but I look forward to every moment I get to spend away from the blinding light of the future.
