High Rises of the Pacific Northwest

November 22, 2011

I often get asked why I would live in Oregon if I could live in New York or Los Angeles or San Francisco or … well, pretty much anyplace other than here.

The reality is that no matter how much fun I might have when I’m in another location, when I return, I am greeted by the Pacific Northwest’s version of high rises.

Mt. Rainer in Washington

Mt. St. Helens in the foreground and (I believe) Mt. Adams in the distance.

A fog-filled valley just south of Mt. St. Helens. If I'm reading the map correctly, this could be Swift Reservoir and/or Yale Lake. OF course, it could also be the Kalama River. I'm not really sure.

Mt. Hood in Oregon.

How can any city compare when I get to come home to this?
