Eight years ago, Scott Gisborne opened the very first wine tasting room in Northern Arizona. He was a visionary, seeingArt an opportunity that few others understood — or still completely understand.

Arizona wines.

Actually, combining Arizona wines and the tremendous tourist industry found in Sedona, Ariz.

When I first ventured to Sedona, I was skeptical of the type of wine I would find in the region. Apparently, I was not the only one.

As Scott tells it, even some in Arizona have questioned whether people would visit the state for wine, especially since it shares a border with California, the quintessential U.S. wine mecca. He was resolute, however, and trusted that he could draw some of Sedona’s 4 million visitors each year to the doors of his shop, The Art of Wine.
