Morning Over Cambridge

November 12, 2012

Just one day after Hurricane Sandy laid waste to much of the East Coast, I had to fly into Boston for a meeting. The region was mercifully sparred most of the violence of the superstorm and was calm the majority of the three days I was there. I didn’t have a ton of time to take photos, but I did manage to snap a few that I wanted to share.

Along the waterfront in Cambridge is a beautiful monastery that can look pretty imposing before the sun has come up.

But once the sun starts to come up, it looks much less imposing …

Moon over the river flowing through Cambridge:

First light over the river winding around Cambridge:

And the sunrise was beautiful after the storm:

The hotel I stayed in was right next to John F. Kennedy Park. I found the following quote from Kennedy’s commencement address to be inspiring — especially in the midst of the current frenzied election season:

I also spent a little time walking the Harvard campus. Of course, rather than taking pictures of the buildings, I was more fascinated by the fat little squirrel I found scampering around the campus, gathering food for the winter.

Sorry it took me so long to post these … It’s been a very, very busy month.
