Wonderful World of Tricks

March 10, 2013

First, I am so sorry for not posting in a while. My world has been a little insane lately as I transitioned jobs. I am still trying to get my equilibrium, so it might take a bit to get back into the swing of things again, but I plan on posting a little more often.

Anyway … on the topic of “new,” I have been trying to teach Cooper a new trick. Well … actually … it’s an extension of an old trick. He knows “down” and how to “play dead,” but he refuses to put his head all the way down on the floor when he does the tricks. So, I thought I would teach him how to lay his head down on the floor on command.

The result? Well … it was typically Cooper.

Trick 1

At first, Cooper thought I wanted him to put his paw on my hand. He is really good at targeting, both with his paw and his nose, so it’s his go-to when he’s asked to do something.

Trick 2

I finally got him to put his head down, but he thought I wanted him to put his head on my hand. He couldn’t figure out that this was not exactly what I meant.

Trick 3

And he just kept putting his head on my hand, over and over again.

Trick 4

Finally, SUCCESS! Of course, with success comes the typical Cooper pout. Because why should he have to do something I want him to do?

It just occurred to me, poor Coop – except for Gus, he is ruled by girls in the house! Those dang demanding girls…! No pleasing them! πŸ™‚

    • I’ve thought the same thing plenty of times, but then am reminded that Zoey really doesn’t act like a girl cat … And she doesn’t even act like a cat. Lilly is pretty rough and tumble, too. More so than Gus. πŸ™‚
